About Smithers

Smithers (population 6,000) is a naturally beautiful, welcoming and small Northwest BC town with stunning mountain veiws in all directions. Vistors enjoy year-round outdoor activity. People come to Smithers for hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, skiing, shopping or to simply enjoy the setting. The small town is in the heart of great wildlife habitat. Vistors will often see moose and bear in town. From great hunting and salmon fishing to endless winter activity, this area has it all without the people.

Our north area is 1500 square miles starting in the Bulkley Valley and going west into the rugged coastal mountains east of Terrace. The area encompasses rich farmland, numerous lakes and rivers and towering coastal mountains.

Our south area is 700 square miles located south of Francois Lake. This part of British Columbia is known as the Lakes District and is well known for its spectacular hunting and fishing opportunities. The territory consists of rolling, timber-covered mountains and grassy meadows with hundreds of small to large lakes.

How to Get Here

Getting to Smithers is easy! Come by train, plane, bus, bike or automobile!

Clients can drive to Smithers on the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway (Route 16), approximately half way between Prince Rupert and Prince George. This makes Smithers easy to find if you're coming from anywhere in BC, Alberta, the U.S. or eastern Canada.

For clients who wish to fly, the Smithers airport is located just a few kilometres out of town and has daily service from Vancouver with Air Canada.
